Finding Peace through your Breath

Centering your breath is an important practice that can help you reduce stress, improve your focus, and increase your overall sense of well-being. Here are three tips to help you center your breath:

Find a quiet space

Find a quiet space where you can sit or lie down comfortably without being disturbed. It can be helpful to turn off your phone or any other distractions.

Focus on your breath

Start by taking a few deep breaths and then begin to focus on the sensation of your breath entering and leaving your body. You can place your hand on your chest or stomach to feel the rise and fall of your breath.

Practice regularly

Like any skill, centering your breath takes practice. Set aside a few minutes each day to focus on your breath and gradually increase the amount of time you spend in this practice. Over time, you may find that you are able to center your breath more easily and experience greater benefits from this practice.

Even though breathing seems automatic and easy to do, many of us unlearn all of our foundational instincts due to the stresses of the day.  Work with one of our Vocal Coaches to move your breath back into the power position.  Focused breathing can not only make your body more healthy but also your mind.
